About The Position

The Administrative Services Officer 3 - Console Operator serves as professional support for the unit and is directly accountable to the Sergeant of that section for the proper administration, general management, and control of all matters related to the operation of that unit. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) is a 24/7/365 operation. Whether a sworn or civilian employee, you will be responsible for the general welfare of the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County and for ensuring optimum communications both within Metro and between Metro and the general public. Applicants must be available to work a variety of shifts to accommodate various departmental needs and serve in an on-call capacity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. All positions in the Metro Nashville Police Department require an extensive background check.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year experience in an administrative or technical field.
• Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education (1:1 Ratio).
• Knowledge of appropriate laws and procedures.
• Must be available to work a variety of shifts and serve in an on-call capacity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
• Must be a resident of the State of Tennessee or become a resident within six (6) months of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Prior sworn law enforcement or 911 dispatch experience
• NCIC certification

Responsibilities

• Provide support for Transit Division, patrol elements, investigative units, special events, and law enforcement partners by monitoring calls for service utilizing technology.
• Coordinate information sharing across numerous platforms, ranks, and divisions.
• Build good relationships and provide real-time investigative support to members of the MNPD Transit Division, patrol elements, investigative units, and law enforcement partners.
• Provide support to major and special events.
• Take on special projects, be proactive regarding current and future technology needs, and assist various investigative elements.
• Perform public speaking assignments in the community, teach in-service or recruit training classes, or similar engagements when required, including tours of the Community Safety Center.
• Evaluate incoming CAD information to detect emerging crime patterns or other significant events.
• Conduct investigative research for critical incidents and coordinate the sharing of information with on-scene personnel.
• Relay information between police officers, dispatch, specialized units, and command staff by phone, radio, email, and other communication tools.
