This position is for a Student Assistant for the COND 311 course, "Advanced Conducting Seminar with Live Chamber Orchestra." The course focuses on rehearsal techniques and interpretation while working with a live chamber ensemble. The ensemble consists of 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello, 1 double bass, and 1 woodwind (flute/clarinet - preferably someone who can double). The players must be able to read and play Classical repertoire. The hired student will serve as a performing member of the ensemble and an administrative assistant. Administrative duties include setting up and tearing down chairs, taking attendance, and managing a library of sheet music. Interested students must also apply to and be hired for the "COND 311 Ensemble Performers" role. The ensemble meets on Mondays from 2:00 PM to 3:50 PM and primarily performs classical repertoire in a laboratory setting for student conductors under faculty guidance.
