About The Position
At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields. With a reputation for excellence and a commitment to safety and quality, we’re looking for motivated individuals to join our in-house Concrete Saw Operator Training Program. This hands-on program offers one-on-one training with a seasoned expert, giving you the opportunity to develop skills in green sawing, walk-behind saw operation, equipment maintenance, finishing, and sealing techniques. Upon completion, trainees will transition to full-time Concrete Saw Operators, earning competitive pay, a company-provided vehicle, and long-term career growth opportunities. The ideal candidate has construction labor experience, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This role requires frequent travel between our projects in Charlotte, NC, Nashville, TN, Aiken, SC, and future locations to support our slip-form concrete paving operations. This training program is designed to prepare you for a full-time role as a Concrete Saw Operator, offering competitive pay, career growth, and hands-on experience with industry experts.
Requirements
- Heavy civil or highway construction experience preferred.
- Strong judgment and ethical decision-making skills.
- Regular, punctual, and consistent attendance required.
- Ability to operate a manual transmission truck, required.
- Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases).
- Willingness to travel 100% of the time.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces.
- Must be at least 18 years old to meet job-site safety and labor requirements.
Nice To Haves
- CDL A or B with hazmat and tanker endorsements, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operating walk-behind concrete saws to create precise expansion and control joint cuts on roadways, runways, and other paved surfaces.
- Removing damaged concrete by cutting and drilling for reinforcing rods, then positioning them for repairs.
- Conducting post-cut inspections to ensure quality and making necessary corrections.
- Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure and protect concrete surfaces.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment by keeping equipment and work areas hazard-free.
- Following all safety protocols and worksite regulations.
- Assisting with other tasks as needed to support paving operations.
