About The Position

Silvi Materials is hiring a Concrete Quality Control Intern for a 10–12 week summer experience. The intern will work alongside experienced and certified quality control professionals at Ready-Mix plants and develop construction-material testing skills through hands-on work in the field and laboratory. The internship focuses on concrete and aggregate testing used in the construction materials industry and includes exposure to an ACI Level 1-aligned industry testing curriculum.

The intern will handle concrete during testing, test aggregate and concrete samples, coordinate with plant operations or quality control colleagues about possible mixture adjustments, collect concrete samples at job sites, and test cylinders for compressive strength. Test results are compared with design values to check compliance with specifications. The role is offered in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, or North or South New Jersey.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a collegiate program; preferred fields include Concrete Industry Management, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, General Engineering, Construction Management, or Materials Science.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Be able to meet the stated physical demands, including regularly lifting 50 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds, standing for long periods, and performing various bending, kneeling, and related movements.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing aggregate and/or concrete testing for gradation, moisture, slump, air content, and temperature.
• Maintain contact with plant operations and/or other quality control team members about necessary mixture adjustments, if required.
• Place portions of concrete batches into cylinders at job sites.
• Perform tests to measure the compressive strength of concrete cylinders.
• Compare compressive-strength results with design values to check compliance with specifications.
