Concession Food Service Worker (Part Time)
About The Position
The Concession Food Service Worker sells concessions, including soft drinks and food items, to customers at events at San Jose State University. The position provides efficient, friendly customer service, processes sales and payments, follows cash-handling procedures, and maintains the concession area. It also involves relaying relevant information to a supervisor, replenishing condiments and supplies, and complying with sanitation and safety requirements. This is a part-time position. The schedule will be discussed during the interview. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the openings are filled. Because the work is in an educational facility, work may decline or stop during school breaks, potentially resulting in unpaid temporary layoffs; year-round work at another location may be needed depending on business needs.
Requirements
- Previous concession or food service experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Sell soft drinks and food items to customers at events.
- Serve customers efficiently and in a friendly manner, following outlined steps of service.
- Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Relay relevant information to a supervisor.
- Perform sales transactions in a reasonable and timely fashion.
- Enter sales into the cash register accurately.
- Make change, accept approved forms of payment, and issue receipts.
- Follow standard cash-handling procedures.
- Manage assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring the cash drawer meets overage and shortage standards.
- Replenish condiments and general supplies and maintain the cleanliness of the concession area.
- Comply with sanitation and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
