We are currently seeking a Computer Operations Specialist to join our team in Wichita, KS. This role is an integral part of our technology team and will be responsible for ensuring that our computer systems are effective and efficient at all times.

Requirements

  • College Degree or level of education that, together with industry experience, enables the applicant to meet the job requirements
  • 2-3 years experience with basic office products, mainframe systems, network methodology, operating systems, applications, current hardware, best practice protocols and standards required
  • Familiarity with programming languages Python, Java or SQL
  • Exemplary customer service experience
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills
  • Confident and articulate written and verbal communications skills

Responsibilities

  • Identify and correct file and system errors
  • Develop and maintain jobs within automated file-movement software
  • Perform data processing operations according to a business production schedule
  • Perform backup procedures to reduce the risk of data loss
  • Collaborate with Programmers, Systems and Business Analysts to coordinate testing environments and resolve system problems
  • Maintain and manage processing logs and run procedure manuals
  • Troubleshoot problems for users
  • Notify Programmers, Systems and Business Analysts personnel of system malfunctions
  • Monitor jobs controlled by an automated scheduling system to include building and editing jobs from the scheduler
  • Monitor and/or perform the running of system and application updates and notify appropriate personnel of exceptions (ex: batch processing errors)
  • Manually submit batch processing jobs
  • Run application performance management scans
  • Process phone requests
  • Provide support during business continuity exercises
  • Responsible for all system and network availability
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility of the job
