GRADE 19 LOCATION OF POSITION PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES OFFICE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 805 BRIGHTSEAT ROAD LANDOVER, MD 20785 Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this position is to provide Technical Support & Resolution. Provide direct support to internal customers by diagnosing and resolving complex software, hardware, network, and peripheral issues. Assist with managing the installation and upgrade of internal hardware and software, including Operating System (OS) upgrades and IT-specific software. Additionally, assists with the deployment and upgrade of computer networks for major statewide initiatives (such as OHEP and Q-Less). Stay abreast of the latest technology to develop and implement creative and innovative solutions for the Department of Human Services Information Systems (DHSIS).

Requirements

  • Two years and six months of experience, one year of experience planning, integrating and maintaining software and hardware for local or wide area computer networks and an additional eighteen months of experience converting data from project specifications by preparing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools; planning, installing and maintaining data communications network lines and devices; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license to drive to the different offices throughout Prince George’s County.

  • One year of experience receiving and resolving employees call on an IT Help Desk.
  • One year of experience with active directory.
  • One year of experience using Windows 11.
  • One year of experience using the Google Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Provides exemplary customer support to internal customers by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues as they arise.
  • Collaborates directly with the Computer Network Specialist Supervisor, advising on the diagnosis and resolution of complex software and hardware issues.
  • Conducts continuous research on emerging technologies that may impact the DHS Enterprise.
  • Leads and participates in LAN projects, including software/hardware refresh, mobile device and evaluates LAN hardware and software and recommends strategic upgrades to replace obsolete technology.
  • Ensures strict adherence to all policies and regulations concerning personnel issues, confidentiality, and the appropriate use of state property.
  • Travels to remote sites to deliver necessary on-site technical support.
  • Manages the user account lifecycle, performing onboarding and offboarding procedures for all personnel.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required to support departmental operations.
