About The Position

An instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for the specific discipline. This is an online adjunct instructor position at West Georgia Technical College. The instructor will provide instruction in the theory and practical applications of Computer Information Systems, utilizing current technology and preparing course syllabi. They will evaluate student progress, grade coursework, and maintain knowledge of current trends in the discipline. The role also involves collaborating with faculty on student learning outcomes, supporting the Program Director and Division Dean, and assisting with recruitment and retention efforts. The instructor will also be responsible for requesting and maintaining supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Programming, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or Information Technology or Master’s degree in a related discipline (ex: Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Instructional Technology, Security/Cybersecurity, Computer Software Engineering Systems, Networking/Technology, IT Management, Technology Management) with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline from an accredited institution
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of the discipline in accordance with academic state standards
  • Instructs courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry
  • Prepares course syllabi using provided template
  • Utilizes current technology in the classroom/lab
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
  • Grades all coursework in a timely manner
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area
  • Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the discipline
  • Works collaboratively with faculty within discipline to establish, measure, and evaluate student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success and submits to appropriate program director
  • Supports Program Director and Division Dean/Associate Dean
  • Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts
  • Requests and maintains supplies and equipment
