About The Position

CACI is seeking a Computer Engineer who is willing to work onsite in Dahlgren, Virginia. This role involves designing new rack-level computing systems for Surface Navy, including compute, network, storage, and display systems. The engineer will create design documentation, provide alternatives for obsolete components, assess technology roadmaps, and perform trade studies for equipment upgrades. This position requires a minimum 4-year STEM degree and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering discipline and 0-3 years experience required.
  • Proficiency with Visio or equivalent drawing tools
  • Proficiency with Excel and Visual Basic
  • Working knowledge of server and switch hardware.
  • Working knowledge of thin clients/zero clients
  • Working knowledge of fiber optic communication types and compatibilities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain, at minimum, a Secret Level Security Clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Current/active Secret-level clearance highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of Aegis Combat/Weapon Systems.
  • Working knowledge of Intel, AMD, and network technology roadmaps.
  • Understanding of Ethernet protocols.
  • Understanding of various protocols (RS232/422), USB, DP, H.264, PCIe, etc.
  • Basic understanding of power distribution to an equipment cabinet and within an equipment cabinet.

Responsibilities

  • Design new rack-level computing systems for Surface Navy, including compute, network, storage, and display systems.
  • Create design documentation for new computing systems, including: Design documents, wiring diagrams, port allocations, and bills of material.
  • Create Ship integration information, including I/O tables for Technical Data packages.
  • Create Production information, including bill of material part numbers and quantities.
  • Provide alternatives for items in deployed systems that are no longer procurable.
  • Review and assess alternatives defined by Life Cycle Engineering Agent, Combat System Engineering Agent and production team.
  • Apply technology roadmaps to tactical computing equipment to aid customer in defining path forward.
  • Create and update Visio drawings including cabinet elevations, wiring diagrams, and power wiring diagrams.
  • Provide feedback on fiber optic cable plants.
  • Perform trade studies and analysis of alternatives for equipment upgrades of tactical computing systems.
  • Provide summaries of roadmaps for Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, networking, and storage.
  • Compare and contrast various motherboard designs.
  • Assess pros and cons of the products of various server vendors.
  • Assess suitability of various motherboard designs to various Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) architectures.
