About The Position

Purpose of Position: Possess and apply basic laminating, trimming, fitting, bonding, and assembly skills to form trainers that accurately represent the physical and visual attributes of an aircraft.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Less than 1 year of experience
  • Ability to read blue prints.
  • Skilled in carpentry and pattern making procedures and techniques.
  • Familiarity with all types of composites and a variety of other materials used to create composite parts.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and prepare molds for lamination.
  • Laminate parts by applying polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins to prepared molds by releasing air bubbles and smoothing seams with brushes and rollers in fiberglass applied by hand or by chopper gun.
  • Measure and mix required resins and catalysts to be applied to molds to create parts.
  • Measure and cut fiberglass chop strand mat, woven glass cloth, and wood-bracing materials as required for projects being assembled.
  • Cut, bend, form, sand, grind, glue, rivet, etc. using a variety of materials (wood, metal, foam, clay, fabrics, and plastics).
  • Fit, trim, finish, and assemble various fabricated parts.
  • Check completed products for conformance to specifications and for defects by measuring with rulers, calipers, and by checking them visually and by tapping them to detect bubbles or dead spots.
  • Perform basic techniques with gel coats and chopper gun.
  • Be familiar with all types of composites and a variety of other materials used to create composite parts.
  • Ability to read blue prints.
  • Skilled in carpentry and pattern making procedures and techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.
