About The Position

The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency is seeking an individual to help protect the health and safety of the citizens of Indiana by providing quality, efficient service to all professional licensees, applicants, and the public. The fundamental purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the board director, the licensing board/commissions, and to directly supervise the customer service representatives’ projects across a broad scope of career opportunities. As a State of Indiana employee, you impact the well-being of Indiana’s communities every day. The Compliance Officer conducts inspections and investigations of licensed Indiana facilities. You will ensure that all facilities are properly licensed and operating under safe and sanitary conditions as required by Indiana Board statutes and rules. You will protect the health and safety of the citizens of Indiana by providing quality, efficient service to all professional licensees, applicants, and the public. The purpose of this position is to protect the public health and safety in the procurement and inspection of facilities and individuals that handle, dispense, prescribe, and administer pharmaceuticals and other medical equipment that is sold or distributed to patients in the State of Indiana. The Indiana Board of Pharmacy is responsible for licensing and regulating all facilities and individuals that engage in the practice of pharmacy and handle pharmaceutical product. This includes physically conducting inspections, and investigations concerning issues of diversion, impairment, and compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and Board Orders and Policy. The Compliance Officer is integral to fulfilling the Board's statutory mission of protecting public health and safety by monitoring diversion, compliance, and impairment in the physical locations where pharmacy is practiced and drugs are dispensed and/or administered to patients and consumers. This position covers a geographic area in North West Indiana that includes Benton, Carroll, Jasper, Lake, Newton, Tippecanoe, Warren, Cass, Fulton, LaPorte, Marshall, Pulaski, Starke, St. Joseph counties. Residence in the service area is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of work experience in program coordination; development; implementation; or accredited college training in a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage resources in an effective manner.
  • Ability to write coherently and accurately.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license and driving record that allows them to operate a state vehicle.
  • Able to pass an FBI criminal background check.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in inspections, investigation processes, performing audits, compiling corrective action plans, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Ability to be a credible witness in court cases.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred knowledge of State and Federal laws, rules, regulations, and requirements (comparable knowledge of Indiana Criminal Code or other regulations acceptable).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections and investigations of licensed Indiana facilities.
  • Ensures that all facilities are properly licensed and operating under safe and sanitary conditions as required by Indiana Board statutes and rules.
  • Protects the health and safety of the citizens of Indiana by providing quality, efficient service to all professional licensees, applicants, and the public.
  • Conducts inspections and investigations concerning issues of diversion, impairment, and compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and Board Orders and Policy.
  • Monitors diversion, compliance, and impairment in the physical locations where pharmacy is practiced and drugs are dispensed and/or administered to patients and consumers.
  • Communicates with agency customers including applicants, licensees, board members, state, federal, and local officials, and the public.
  • Prepares and files Consumer Complaints against licensees or unlicensed persons and businesses with the Attorney General's Office and serves as a witness as required.
  • Enforces compliance with laws, statutes, and rules of various boards or commissions regulating the licensing of professional trades and businesses licensed by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency with accurate knowledge of all rules and statutes involved.
  • Researches advertising, files, records, statutes, and rules to ensure proper licensing and compliance under the jurisdiction of the Board of the Professional Licensing Agency.
  • Investigates complaints from the public, regulatory agencies, businesses, or licensees regarding alleged violations or irregularities of licensing requirements or professional conduct.
  • Reviews contracts.
  • Inspects assigned facilities. New and routine inspections will be conducted for cleanliness and proper ventilation/equipment sanitation to ensure operation within the required guidelines.
