We need outstanding people to help us achieve our goals. We are looking for an experienced Compliance Officer to join our team. You will lead our compliance advisory and regulatory change function. You'll turn regulatory requirements into real guidance that Product, Business Development and Marketing can act on, and keep policies and controls current as those requirements, and our company, change. Fundbox is growing its business and we want people who can help sift through the complexities to present insights and solutions that keep us moving forward. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, with real decision-making authority. You should already have a history of supporting and advising on new product rollouts, product and regulatory change, third party risk management, and still be able to support and/or lead different pillars of a compliance management system. Along with colleagues across Fundbox's credit, product, engineering and other functions, you'll be based out of our office in the heart of Chelsea, steps from the High Line & Chelsea Market and surrounded by some of New York's best food, energy, and tech scene, working closely with our product teams on a hybrid schedule, while remaining in sync with the rest of the Compliance team working in other locations. You will also support or manage other aspects of Fundbox's compliance program. We were recently certified by Great Place to Work, with an employee satisfaction rate of 94%. Requirements

• 7+ years in compliance within financial services, with experience and expertise in small business lending as a key part of your resume.
• Product compliance, fintech, and bank partnership experience is also strongly preferred.
• Consumer lending experience is a plus and will be considered as part of a more diverse resume, but your ability to reframe thinking for business lending products and services is critical.
• Demonstrated experience advising product, engineering, marketing, and business development teams during development, pre- and post-launch, and via ongoing oversight.
• Hands-on ownership, in full or partially, of: marketing/materials review, policy governance, regulatory change management, third-party risk, and complaint management.
• Working knowledge of lending and payments regulatory requirements, including UDAP/UDAAP, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, and applicable state requirements.
• Familiarity with small business lending and state commercial financing disclosure laws is a significant plus.
• International exposure is also a plus (Australia, Canada, UK).
• Experience preparing or supporting bank partner approval submissions, oversight reviews or exam responses.
• Strong writing. You can turn a dense regulatory requirement into a one-paragraph answer a product manager can act on, and into a memo that satisfies an examiner.
• Sound judgment and independence across competing priorities, in a function where the queue and the calendar both expand to fill available time. A "do it all" mentality.
• Comfort using AI tools as an accelerator, but not as a replacement for real compliance experience or work.
• Read between the lines. You can look at a PRD, a vendor SOW, or a consent order issued against someone else and work out what it implies for us. You're comfortable with some ambiguity, and you form a point of view until you have all the final details.
• Connect dots. You do not focus solely on summaries and spend the right amount of time asking questions and evaluating things holistically. You remember that a servicing change made three months ago is affected by today's disclosure decision. You see how roadmap items, controls, policies, and partner commitments relate to one another, and you follow the thread.
• Engage product managers as peers. You learn the product deeply, speak in terms of user outcomes and trade-offs, and offer paths forward rather than vetoes. Product Managers invite you in early because you make their work better, not slower.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the compliance partner to Product, Business Development, Marketing, Credit, RevOps, Collections, and Customer Support, engaging throughout the entire customer and product lifecycle.
• Own compliance review of new products and programs, including input into business requirements and the design of disclosures, customer journeys, fee presentation, and servicing flows.
• Translate regulatory requirements into concrete, buildable product guardrails and acceptance criteria that engineers and product managers can implement, and document the reasoning for the benefit of other team members, future audits, and bank partner inquiries.
• Own the marketing and materials review program: queue design, service levels, review quality, and consistency for all reviewers who work the queue.
• Assemble, submit and drive through internal, executive, and/or bank partner product approval packages within the compliance purview.
• Own regulatory change management, horizon scanning, applicability assessment, impact analysis, and translation into policy, procedure and system change with named owners and dates.
• Track internal change with the same discipline as regulatory change: product roadmap, new markets, system implementations, vendor changes, org and process redesigns. Build the mechanisms that make change visible to Compliance before it ships.
• Determine what each change means downstream, policies, procedures, disclosures, training content, controls, testing scripts, risk assessments, partner commitments, and drive those updates to completion.
• Own vendor and third-party due diligence within compliance scope, including reassessment cadence, and serve as a key leader on Fundbox's Vendor Management Team.
