About The Position

The Compliance Officer will be responsible for monitoring various activities and operations within Taranaki to ensure compliance with Council rules, policies, and resource consents. This role involves identifying and reporting non-compliance incidents, conducting thorough evidential investigations, and recommending appropriate enforcement actions under the Resource Management Act. The position also requires responding to pollution events, participating in an on-call roster for regional response capabilities, and proactively engaging with the community to promote compliance. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Requirements

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to investigate and write concise reports for both industrial and rural activities.
Strong computer literacy.
Experience in either forestry, farming, or industrial practice, particularly treatment and disposal methods for agricultural and industrial wastes.
Knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991 (advantageous).
A current full driver’s licence.
Ability to be flexible and agile in practice to provide outcomes.
Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple jobs.
