About The Position

The Office of Research has an outstanding opportunity for a Compliance Analyst (E S 8) (Temporary – 12 months) to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Compliance, the Compliance Analyst (E S 8) (Temporary – 12 months) is responsible for professional-level administration and coordination in the areas of conflict of interest and outside work programs in the Office of Research. This position is eligible for telework.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, science, communications, or risk assessment, or equivalent
Two years of experience in a risk management, legal, or compliance role.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including preparing internal reports, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and databases and Zoom in a Windows environment.
Experience with creating data visualizations, such as with Power BI.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience working in a large, highly structured environment.
Ability to make decisions and problem solve independently with a high degree of reliability, accuracy, and productivity.
Ability to manage a high volume of time sensitive materials within a specialized database.

Responsibilities

Manages intake process of Faculty Outside Work Forms as prescribed by Executive Order No 57.
Responsible for document intake and preliminary analysis, data entry, acknowledgement of forms not requiring deeper review, triaging to research security office review when applicable, approval tracking, approval issuance, and program metrics.
Primary responsibility for database and related records retention management and communicating review outcomes to faculty, department liaisons, and other central offices as needed.
Maintain process documentation, version logs, and user guides to support training and audit readiness.
Analysis of forms, elevating those requiring deeper review to the DC with review recommendations up to and including recommendations for conflict or risk management.
Act as a service and inquiry point of contact for faculty and administrators via phone and email for the Outside Work program.
Responsible for special projects and reports related to Faculty Outside Work.
Support the FCOI program by conducting pre-reviews of the Significant Financial Interest (SFI) and Technology Transfer disclosures for completeness.
Collaborates with University researchers and administrators within the schools and colleges to ensure complete SFI disclosures are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
Work with University partner offices to ensure researcher compliance with GIM 10.
Ensure delivery of management plans to Investigators, appropriate leadership, and relevant University offices.
Work with the Compliance Team to ensure accurate tracking of required FCOI training for faculty and assist with maintaining FCOI database records and workflows.
Helps ensure compliance of UW Faculty and Investigators, and other covered individuals involved on sponsored programs by carrying out pre-review at required stages of grant approvals, including the proposal stage.
Coordinates with researchers and research administrators and communicates with department chairs and administrators, to ensure compliance is documented in the relevant University systems.
Serves as liaison to other central campus offices for inquiries related to conflicts of interest.
Communicate review outcomes as part of research administration workflow.
Assist the Compliance team in the coordination of expanded monitoring of compliance with Outside Professional Work for Compensation, associated Significant Financial Interest (SFI) disclosures, and compliance with issued Conflict Management Plans (CMPs) or Risk Mitigation Plans to manage Conflict of Commitment.
Conducts preliminary review of Requests for Approval of Outside Professional Work for Compensation (Form 1460).
Conducts Conflict of Commitment pre-review.
Conducts pre-reviews on SFI disclosures and related sponsored programs.
Conducts pre-review for Technology Transfer disclosures.
Collaborates with University researchers and departments to ensure complete SFI disclosures or conflict of commitment information requests are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
Communicates with central campus offices as needed to ensure compliance with FCOI policy in research, teaching, and technology transfer.
Communicates with central campus offices as needed to ensure disposition of Conflict of Commitment decisions as part of the research administration workflow.
Supports implementation of University initiatives or training to reduce administrative burden on researchers while enhancing overall compliance.
Maintain current and accurate required Federal and Public Reporting of FCOI Data.
Provides customer service by phone, virtual meetings, or email or via UW ticketing systems; triage outside work/SFI/FIDS/COC inquiries sent to the Compliance Team or Research Security Office shared email accounts/UW Connect ticketing.
