About The Position

The University of Sioux Falls is a private Christian University offering a positive, collegial work environment and is looking for a head dance coach for USF’s inaugural dance season. The University of Sioux Falls invites applications for the part-time Dance Team Coach. The coach provides leadership, instruction, and mentorship to members of the USF Dance Team and is responsible for developing a positive, competitive dance team and program that support student success and reflect the University's mission and values. The Dance Team Coach oversees practices, choreography, performances, recruitment, team development, and works collaboratively with Athletics, Enrollment, Student Life, and other areas of the University. The position requires availability for practices, performances, competitions, athletic events, and other University activities, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, teach, motivate, and mentor college students.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students and University personnel.
  • Knowledge of appropriate dance techniques, safety practices, and performance standards.
  • Understands and supports the Christian mission of the institution
  • Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license; acceptable driving record required; ability to successfully pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Dance coaching, choreography, competitive dance, or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead team practices, instruction, choreography, performances, and game-day activities.
  • Recruit prospective students and support the retention and development of current team members.
  • Assess student abilities and provide instruction that promotes individual and team development.
  • Establish expectations for student conduct, teamwork, academic success, and responsible representation of the University.
  • Coordinate practice schedules, facilities, uniforms, equipment, and other team needs.
  • Follow University requirements related to student safety, injuries, travel, and program operations.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment, Athletics, Student Life, Communications, and other campus partners to support recruitment and promote the Dance Team.
  • Participate in University events, community activities, and other Dance Team opportunities.
  • Perform other duties related to the Dance Team as assigned.
