About The Position

Companion & Care Specialists provide in-home support to clients living with Alzheimer's, dementia, ALS, and Parkinson's, helping them remain safe, comfortable, and at home. The role includes personal care delivered with dignity, mobility support, meal preparation, household assistance, errands, transportation, and monitoring clients' wellbeing. Specialists provide a calm and consistent presence for clients and families and communicate changes to the care team. This is an in-person role serving clients throughout the Greater San Diego area. The employer offers flexible scheduling, paid orientation and training, and a supportive team.

Requirements

Hands-on caregiving experience, especially with memory care or neurodegenerative conditions.
Patience, dependability, and genuine compassion.
Clear communication skills and ability to work with clients, families, and care teams.
Ability to follow personalized care plans and adapt when circumstances change.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass a background check and provide a current TB test.

Nice To Haves

Experience with safe transfer techniques.
Knowledge of memory care best practices.
Strong observational skills and quick problem-solving instincts.

Responsibilities

Provide personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene support.
Assist with mobility and safe transfers, and gently redirect memory care clients.
Prepare meals and assist clients during mealtimes.
Perform light housekeeping and run errands, including grocery shopping and prescription pick-ups.
Transport clients to appointments and outings.
Monitor clients' wellbeing and inform the care team when something changes.
Provide a calm, consistent presence for clients and families.
