About The Position

Adult Home Share (AHS) is a program offered by New Directions that connects individuals with a Home Share Provider, with whom they live in the provider's home. Community Resource Workers operate primarily outside the home, focusing on the individual's goals, needs, and wants. Responsibilities include supporting individuals in the community, assisting with basic living skills, recreational activities, goal achievement, and promoting educational or vocational opportunities.

Requirements

2 years experience working with people with disabilities, specifically with Autism, anxiety, and OCD
Patient and calm in stressful situations
Active and willing to participate in physical activities
Ability to participate in swimming program weekly with the supported individual
A valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle to transport to various locations in the community
Self-motivated to work independently in the community while collaborating with the larger team
Excellent communication with Case Managers and Supervisors
Available to work the shifts as indicated above, with flexibility based on service needs
Creative problem-solving skills
Subject to Criminal Record, Child/Adult Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact checks
Provide a copy of their Driver’s License and a current Driver’s Abstract

Nice To Haves

Diploma in Disabilities and Community Support or other related human service certificate
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
First Aid/C.P.R. training
Comfortable assisting with personal hygiene
