About The Position

Community Engagement serves to bridge the gap between communities by connecting residents to resources that will help build and sustain their ways of living. Community Engagement assists members of the community by providing support and stability, while also creating opportunities to continue to elevate the mission of eliminating poverty within Wayne county, by providing resources to help establish sustainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in Human Services
  • Ability to navigate between Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to navigate through google documents, slides, and workbooks
  • Ability to adapt to different demands; negotiate stressful situations; and work independently with minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and initiative to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Effective listening skills and professional communication skills, both orally and in written form.
  • Effective critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community.
  • Demonstrate understanding of high-quality customer service.
  • Possess strong planning and organization skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify, contact and work with area social service providers in both the public and private sectors in the interest of aiding low-income persons and services available to meet those needs.
  • Valid identification and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate services in the interest of aiding agency clients to progress toward greater self-sufficiency as it relates to their basic needs, educational, and financial goals.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure that they are meeting their goals and offer support to continue on the path of self-sufficiency by providing encouragement and alternate resources and/or services.
  • Maintain proper client file documentation and utilize various databases to comply with standard and procedures pertaining to Community Engagement.
  • Participate in Community Events during work hours, and occasionally after 5pm, and on Saturdays.
  • Complete all pre and post event recordings as outlined in Community Engagement Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Maintain all Standard Operating Procedure that fall under Community Engagement
  • Serve as front line support staff in Wayne Metro’s Welcome Center.
  • Help aid as support for clients through navigation of the universal application process.
  • Serve as support to other departments to participate in other duties/tasks.
  • Staff assignments include the following, but not limited to: Document collection, Navigation calls, Water or MEAP processing, Event preparation, Community Events, and Customer Assistance Days
  • Review and evaluate clients' circumstances and documentation to determine if they meet the program's eligibility requirements.
  • Respond to customer inquiries for applicable services in a professional manner; describe programs and services
  • Provide support to other Wayne Metro departments/programs as necessary to best serve Wayne Metro clients, including intake, case management, and the delivery of client workshops.
  • Serve as administrative front desk support if needed.
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients, and staff, and a willingness to work with others.
  • Perform work in a professional manner that upholds Wayne Metro’s policies and procedures.
