Acorns•New York, NY
•$20 - $25•Onsite

About The Position

Acorns is hiring a Community Partnership Manager in New York City to support the launch of a product for the tipping economy, beginning with barbers and hair stylists. As part of the Community team, the manager will visit barbershops and salons, build trust with workers, introduce them to Acorns and its financial wellness products, and encourage them to take an initial step toward financial security using the Acorns App. Program details will be shared during the interview process. This flexible, part-time role is expected to last three months, with the potential to extend based on individual performance and program needs. The employee sets their own schedule and may work up to 40 hours per week. The role involves walking a designated city territory, making in-person visits, representing Acorns at community and industry events, and gathering customer feedback and content. Acorns provides coaching and training to help team members meet their goals.

Requirements

  • Genuine belief that tipped workers deserve access to the same financial tools as others.
  • Ability to build trust quickly in short interactions.
  • Active listening and ability to start conversations with questions rather than relying on a script.
  • Comfort with cold outreach and resilience when outreach does not lead to engagement.
  • Confidence speaking one-on-one and in groups.
  • Instinct for recognizing and capturing shareable content.
  • Familiarity with barbershop and salon culture.
  • Curiosity and interest in helping develop a product for the community.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct direct, in-person outreach at barbershops and hair salons within the designated territory.
  • Walk the territory and visit 10–15 barbershops and salons per day, meeting assigned performance goals.
  • Introduce Acorns, explain its financial wellness tools in plain language, demonstrate the product in under 60 seconds, and encourage workers to sign up using their own devices.
  • Log each visit, including the shop name, contact, social handles, funnel stage, and outcome.
  • Build relationships with 3–5 marquee shops in the city as local proof points.
  • Represent Acorns at industry events and meetups.
  • Host local events, such as customer happy hours and meetups.
  • Capture customer content and insights, including feedback and material for social media.
  • Help prepare for future expansion into broader cash-tip and gig-economy sectors as the field strategy scales.
  • Represent Acorns and its mission in the community.

Benefits

  • Flexible work schedule.
  • Coaching and training in social media, compliance, event planning and production, and basic financial topics.
  • Opportunity to help create a new product and contribute to work addressing societal challenges.
