Community Lead-Muse

Meta•Los Angeles, CA
•$160,000 - $224,000

About The Position

Muse is Meta’s personal AI agent, a consumer product available across mobile, desktop, wearables, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. Meta is hiring a Community Lead to develop the official community for Muse, steward user-created community properties, and turn growing user ownership into advocacy, product insight, and growth. The role will scale an existing vetted Discord alpha—with channel architecture, an engagement bot, recruitment and vetting processes, and retention data—into a consumer community operating across multiple surfaces and markets. The Community Lead will grow Discord, extend EggBot’s moderation and engagement capabilities, establish discovery paths from the product, and adapt community programming for international markets. They will participate fluently in fast-moving social conversations, partner on community-sourced content within communications and legal review, and make decisions about how to engage with organic fan properties such as Musebook and Muse Cases. The role will also develop community experiences suited to AI agents, operate a standing tester cohort, improve the quality of product feedback, and manage confidentiality expectations for testing unreleased features involving third-party data. The role will partner with Growth on referral and invitation mechanics, support creators and evangelists, and continuously share compelling use cases with Marketing. It will deliver regular synthesis of community themes and product feedback to Product and Engineering, maintain community health metrics, and ensure bugs and support requests are directed to existing support flows rather than handled by the community.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a relevant field, such as Marketing, Business, or Communications.
  • 10+ years of full-time experience building communities and partnering closely with Product teams.
  • 5+ years of experience across community, social, developer relations, or creator programs, including experience with at least one consumer product at meaningful scale.
  • Deep understanding of or active use of consumer AI products; uses AI agents daily and has opinions about them.
  • Experience managing a large-scale Discord community, including bot automation, role management, and escalation-path design.
  • Experience working with Product, Marketing, Communications, and Growth teams at all management levels, internally and externally.
  • Experience delivering presentations to executives and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with 0-to-1 products in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize or redesign workflows and produce measurable impact, such as efficiency gains or quality improvements.
  • Experience writing in a distinctive, engaging brand voice for social and community channels, with cultural fluency across platforms such as X, Reddit, and Discord.
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development, such as prompt or context engineering and agent orchestration, and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
  • Comfort operating within organic communities that are not under direct control, including when discussions take unexpected directions.
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices, such as risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality and accuracy reviews.
  • Ability to operate within legal and communications review constraints, Meta’s Electronic Communications Policy for third-party platforms, and privacy requirements for products holding deep personal context.

Responsibilities

  • Scale Discord from a vetted alpha cohort into the primary home for Muse power users, including channel architecture, roles, and moderation suitable for substantial growth.
  • Extend EggBot from a points-and-challenges bot into a moderation, triage, and engagement layer that can reduce reliance on manual review.
  • Build product-based community discovery paths, including in-app prompts, onboarding, welcome emails, and help-center content.
  • Establish community programming in international markets and adapt it to local markets rather than simply translating it.
  • Participate fluently and quickly in conversations about AI agents on X and other relevant social surfaces.
  • Partner with social, brand, and creative teams on community-sourced content while ensuring content receives communications and legal review.
  • Engage with user-created properties such as Musebook and Muse Cases; determine what to adopt, amplify, or keep separate, taking brand and legal exposure into account.
  • Develop official community offerings in response to user needs and create proto-social experiences suited to AI products, such as public agent interactions, anonymized fleet-learning feeds, and forums for comparing agent results.
  • Own a permanent tester cohort, including recruiting, vetting, gating access, and routing pre-release connectors and features through testing.
  • Improve feedback quality from dogfooding and testing cohorts rather than optimizing for participant headcount.
  • Manage confidentiality expectations for testers using unreleased features that involve third-party data.
  • Partner with Growth on referral and invitation mechanics, including two-sided incentives, scarcity framing, and prompts from Muse.
  • Identify, recruit, and support creators and evangelists producing strong Muse content.
  • Continuously provide Marketing with compelling use cases from the community.
  • Deliver regular syntheses of community themes, use cases, connector requests, and roadblocks to Product and Engineering.
  • Maintain a community health framework covering activity, retention, sentiment, top advocates, and the funnel from product into the community.
  • Keep bugs and support requests out of community channels by routing them through existing flows.
