About The Position

The Community Impact Specialist plays a key role in advancing Financial Plus Credit Union's mission through meaningful community involvement, partnership support, and outreach coordination. This position serves as the operational backbone of the Community Impact team, ensuring successful execution of sponsorships, volunteer initiatives, community events, and outreach activities across all markets, with a focus on developing and supporting the Northern markets (Saginaw and Bay Counties). Working closely with the Community Impact Manager, Business Development team, branch leaders, Financial Wellness, and community partners, this role helps strengthen Financial Plus' visibility, reputation, and community relationships while supporting growth initiatives in both existing and emerging markets.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Nonprofit Management, Community Development, or related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in community relations, event coordination, marketing, nonprofit engagement, customer service, or a related field.
  • Experience working with community organizations, volunteers, or public-facing events preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and relevant systems
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable representing Financial Plus in public and community settings.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic event/project management tools.
  • Represents FPCU with professionalism and purpose, communicating with members through respectful and solution-focused verbal and written communications that support a member-focused experience.
  • Engages in effective interpersonal communication, diplomacy, and collaboration skills to develop productive relationships, encourage cooperation, and support positive member and employee experiences. Maintains compliance with all applicable policies, demonstrating integrity, respect, and accountability while handling sensitive information and complying with FPCU policies, regulatory expectations, and confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Financial Plus Credit Union at community events, sponsorship activations, volunteer opportunities, and nonprofit initiatives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, partners, chambers, and local stakeholders.
  • Coordinate community outreach activities that strengthen brand awareness and community trust.
  • Partner with branch teams to support local community outreach efforts and relationship-building activities.
  • Coordinate and track sponsorship fulfillment and ensure commitments are executed accurately and on time.
  • Manage event registrations, logistics, materials, and communication with community partners.
  • Assist with tracking sponsorship investments, partnership activities, and community impact outcomes.
  • Maintain calendars and schedules related to sponsorships, volunteer opportunities, and community events.
  • Coordinate logistics for community events, including booth setup, supplies, promotional materials, and staffing.
  • Manage inventory of event materials, giveaways, signage, and outreach resources.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination for employee engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records, invoices, contracts, and partnership documentation.
  • Assist with community impact reporting and measurement efforts.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • All employees adhere to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and internal compliance with standard polices relevant to their roles and responsibilities.
  • Must be bondable.
