About The Position

The Community Health Worker Apprentice reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This one-year apprenticeship program at Northwestern Medicine will provide each participant with both experience and training. The program consists of on-the-job training while attending courses to complete your Community Health Worker (CHW) Certificate. We are seeking candidates that have either completed or in process of obtaining a CHW certificate. Selected candidates will participate in a cohort-based apprenticeship program with a unified start date of September 16th, 2026.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
• Current enrollment in certificate program
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Product suite (e.g., Word, Excel, OneNote and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

• Candidates that have either completed or in process of obtaining a CHW certificate.

Responsibilities

• Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine.
• Successfully complete projects and work tasks assigned.
• Develop a working knowledge of hospital operations to a degree that allows for the successful completion of projects supporting a variety of hospital operations.
• Develop working relationships with staff and management that allows for successful business interactions across all levels of the organization.
• Participation in activities designed for the development of apprentices during their assignment at Northwestern Medicine.
