About The Position

This position serves in a leadership role in the Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR), a program within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The Program Leader will provide programmatic, project, and strategic leadership to CCR, including planning, coordinating, communicating, and evaluating systems and processes to enhance and further CCR's mission. This role involves building and maintaining strong, collaborative working relationships within Lurie Children’s and with external parties. The position actively supports the CCR team, Department, and Hospital efforts to achieve continuous quality improvement and customer service goals by modeling appropriate behavior and providing a work environment conducive to attaining these goals.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited university.
• LCSW or equivalent licensure required.
• Minimum of twelve (12) years of work experience with progressive leadership, program management, and planning expertise.
• Experience in school, early childhood education, child welfare, healthcare, or mental health settings required.
• Demonstrated successful program management experience, including developing and implementing project plans, managing individuals and teams, managing partner relationships, and serving in a range of project team roles.
• Possesses excellent training and consultation skills that foster active participation and new knowledge and skill acquisition.
• Proven experience successfully delivering in-person and web-based consultation and professional development to a range of professionals representing different youth-serving agencies.
• Self-directed, with an in-depth understanding of the organizational goals.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic project-based team environment that works to respond with flexibility to meet project needs and deadlines.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with individuals from different backgrounds and disciplines.
• Local travel to project sites and client locations required. May include some overnight travel.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) presentation software and working knowledge of database technologies required.

• Demonstrated successful fundraising experience, including state, federal, and philanthropic awards, grant writing, management, and reporting preferred.
• Demonstrated experience working with youth exposed to trauma and violence and living in low-opportunity and high-risk communities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all evidence-based and evidence-informed school mental health interventions, including program development and implementation, project teams, program evaluation and quality improvement, and partner relationship management.
• Accountable for the full lifecycle of grants and external funding, including proposal development, submissions, program planning, implementation, and reporting.
• Spearhead local, state, and national conference submissions, including serving as lead author and supporting team members with conference submissions.
• Participate as a contributing author to manuscripts, publications, and other scholarly efforts as appropriate.
• Responsible to build and maintain internal and external partnerships and bridge connections across partners that foster growth and goal achievement.
• Participate in staffing, recruitment, and hiring for functional areas, including recruitment and hiring in alignment with funding and budgets. Play a key role in onboarding and training of new team members in collaboration with other functional areas and program leaders. Oversee the work of program coordinators and administrative support assigned to projects and programs. Participate in performance reviews of team members.
• Lead the development and implementation of program areas, including innovation and investigation goals, in coordination with other functional and program areas.
• Work to strategically grow CCR by identifying, vetting, and developing new projects, partnerships, and funding opportunities in alignment with strategic priorities.
• Ensure that program areas have a clear plan for investigation or quality improvement that demonstrates the impact of the work and identifies areas for improvement. Work to develop new areas of work and funding, including working with Operations to create proposals and budgets that provide adequate support for program goals in alignment with strategic priorities.
• Serve as a relationship manager for key partnerships, focusing on those with high potential for impact, representing new growth opportunities, and enhancing the reputation of CCR at local, regional, and national levels.
• Write philanthropic, grant, and proposals in collaboration with partners within and outside of Lurie Children’s; ensure goals, objectives, and reporting requirements are met; support ongoing communication with funders and potential funders and strategic partners.
• Accountable for program and project staffing in alignment with program and project budgets, including selecting, onboarding, and training new team members. Provide input in performance reviews of team members.
• Promote evidence-based practices through training and delivering supported implementation/technical assistance on clinical mental health interventions. This includes collaboration with national experts to complete certified trainer credentialing and disseminate interventions, supported implementation, and research and evaluation efforts.
• Participate in dissemination and quality improvement, evaluation, and research of program efforts, and scholarly activities, including publishing and presenting at local, regional, and national conferences, focusing on identifying school mental health projects that have high potential for contributing to the research literature and for raising the visibility of CCR, the Department, and the Hospital.
• Represent CCR and Lurie Children’s in public spaces, including acting as a content expert regarding matters of child and adolescent behavioral and mental health, and by responding to media requests.
• Contribute to CCR and Hospital advocacy mission through participation in local, state, and national stakeholder and advocacy boards related to mental health services and the impact of trauma and violence on children, youth, and communities.
• Provide supervision and mentoring for postdoctoral fellow(s) and trainees (psychiatry fellows, psychology, and social work interns). Participate in the educational mission of the Department and Hospital, including presentations at didactics, provide clinical supervision to designated personnel (trainees, staff, and interns) as assigned per program, and complete evaluations as required.
