About The Position

The Community & Events Specialist plays a key role in growing AmeriCU's community impact by managing community partnerships, volunteer initiatives, sponsorships, charitable activities, and corporate events. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, coordinating events, engaging with community organizations, and representing an organization that is committed to making a difference.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in community relations, public relations, customer relationship management, business development, event planning, or sales.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel throughout AmeriCU's footprint (approximately 25% travel).
  • Valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • Experience coordinating corporate, nonprofit, or community events.
  • Experience working with CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of fundraising, sponsorships, and community engagement programs.
  • Experience managing volunteers or community partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with business, government, nonprofit, and community leaders.
  • Serve as a representative of AmeriCU and the AmeriCU Charitable Foundation at community meetings, events, and networking opportunities.
  • Coordinate relationships with Chambers of Commerce and other community organizations.
  • Support sponsorship, donation, and philanthropic initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
  • Research and cultivate new community partnerships.
  • Coordinate and track employee volunteer opportunities and community involvement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee volunteer initiatives.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of community engagement activities and sponsorships.
  • Assist in developing and managing AmeriCU's annual community and corporate event calendar.
  • Plan and execute on-site, off-site, and virtual events from concept through completion.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venues, vendors, contracts, travel arrangements, registration, food & beverage, entertainment, and audio/visual needs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maximize event participation and engagement.
  • Attend and support events requiring in-person coordination.
  • Manage speaker logistics and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Support fundraising initiatives benefiting the AmeriCU Charitable Foundation.
  • Assist with Foundation budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Manage athletic partnership ticket distribution and suite logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records in community engagement and sponsorship tracking systems.
  • Manage inventory and distribution of promotional materials and event merchandise.
