About The Position

Sagamok Anishnawbek is seeking a Community Energy Coordinator who will provide a wide range of energy-saving and renewable energy related guidance within the community, achieving Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation’s energy planning goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Strong knowledge of energy conservation, renewable energy production and climate change issues.
  • A strong background in customer service
  • Willingness to engage all community members
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Sign and comply with an annual oath of confidentiality.
  • Clear Criminal Records Check (CPIC) that is valid within 6 months.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle for on-the-job use.

Nice To Haves

  • College Diploma in Engineering, Planning, and Environmental Science is an asset or equivalent combinations of knowledge and experience.
  • Ojibway language would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality and professional services to the First Nation’s community members.
  • Implement Community Energy Plan recommendations. This may involve preliminary applications for funding or existing conservation programs.
  • Complete walk-through energy audits of community and residential buildings to identify opportunities for energy efficient retrofits.
  • Data entry of utility billing information.
  • Respond to general community member’s inquiries regarding utility services and for directing to the appropriate contact at the utility company as needed.
  • Creating awareness programs to encourage community member participation in energy conservation and rebate programs to manage energy costs, where applicable.
  • Install and recommend energy saving solutions such as energy efficiency lighting, hot water blankets and programmable thermostats. Provide follow-up services of these visits, if needed.
  • Initiate conversations with community members regarding energy usage and conservation.
  • Attend training seminars, workshops, and online courses, as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of funding opportunities available for community members, utility rates, and renewable energy funding opportunities.
  • Participate and support off reserve energy projects.
  • Clearly explain energy information to building owners, including any inefficiencies to be addressed and utility billing review.
  • Respond to general inquiries and explain any energy rebate programs and services available.
  • Prepare marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and rebate forms.
  • Actively identify and recommend ways to improve building operations and delivery.
  • Accurately maintain and complete all necessary paperwork, records and documents, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.
