About The Position

This is a 6-month position with the potential for extension, offering 6-8 openings. The role involves supporting the delivery of standardized educational and volunteer educational programs for the Multitudes early literacy initiative. The assistant will apply established procedures to assist with program implementation, collect and organize participant data, support program delivery, and assist with outreach to Mandarin/Cantonese-speaking communities. Detailed instructions will be provided for all assignments.

Requirements

  • Coursework or work experience in a related area.
  • Continuing education in a related field.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese and English, including the ability to communicate clearly with families and community partners in both languages.
  • Knowledge of or experience related to program content and objectives, including community-based education or early childhood or elementary school programs.
  • Organizational skills to develop a basic project plan, monitor activities against deadlines, and review and analyze results.
  • Basic reading, verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain positive interactions with others and work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Experience using business software systems (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and web-based applications to complete work assignments.

  • Experience working with families, schools, or community organizations in linguistically diverse settings.
  • Experience administering assessments or conducting structured data collection.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct standardized data collection sessions with participating children and families, including administering Mandarin/Cantonese-language assessments using established Multitudes protocols.
  • Prepare and deliver standardized community education activities under direct supervision, including supporting Mandarin/Cantonese-speaking families' participation in the program.
  • Research participant data and maintain accurate records to enhance program delivery and ensure high-quality data collection outcomes.
  • Track and maintain program-related paperwork, inventory, and activity reports while adhering to study procedures and confidentiality requirements.
  • Assist with planning special events in collaboration with program leadership and community partners, and help establish relationships with new Mandarin/Cantonese-speaking partners.
  • Participate in required training on Multitudes protocols, community engagement, and data collection procedures to maintain programmatic competence.
