About The Position

Spread the spirit of Broadway and promote excellence in musical theatre in and around North Texas by joining a growing Education and Community Partnerships Department at Broadway Dallas! The Programs Assistant position will focus as integral support staff for the Broadway Dallas’ High School Musical Theatre Awards (HSMTA) program, partnership with the Dallas Independent School District, and community ticket access programs. This position will aid the department’s program managers on special events, including summer camps, school performance/matinee programming, and the HSMTA awards ceremony. They will play an integral role in the thriving arts community of South Dallas/Fair Park in their work as a program assistant. This position requires regular on-site work in and around the Music Hall at Fair Park. Familiarity with Fair Park and its surrounding neighborhoods is strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of experience in program and/or event management, preferably involving K-12 students in educational theater settings such as after-school care, performing arts programs, or college readiness programs.
  • Experience in copy editing or writing experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with online forms such as Jotform or similar software.
  • Access to consistent method of transport to/from the Music Hall at Fair Park and other designated work locations (venues, off-site event/meeting sites, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Box office or customer service experience.
  • Marketing/social media experience.
  • Photography experience.
  • Graphic design experience: Canva, Photoshop, etc.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Demonstrated appreciation of musical theatre or the performing arts in general.

Responsibilities

  • Administratively support the HSMTA program by editing and compiling adjudication packets and compiling school paperwork as well as handling associated communication.
  • Serve as on-site support for summer camp as an administrative staff representative--helping liaison between camp staff, Broadway Dallas staff, and families/participants.
  • Serve as a coordinator for Dallas Student Days during which thousands of students attend performances in the Music Hall: assist with ingress and egress, front of house processes, and teaching artist coordination.
  • In-person event management such as ticket distribution on community ticket nights at Broadway Dallas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
