About The Position

The Community Donation Manager will support the overall Mission of Goodwill Industries of the Summit (GIS) by working to ensure a sufficient supply of donations to meet retail demand though the solicitation of corporate material donations and through the coordination donated material drives within the community. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Develops community contacts and builds relationships within the community for material donations. Solicits and coordinates material donations from the community, other retailers, and corporations. Seeks out suitable locations for donation bins, coordinates the deployment of onsite donation bins, monitors donation levels of the bins, and adjusts bin placement as needed. Uses weight measures to track donation intake. Ensures that donation bins are in proper working order as well as maintains appropriate professional and welcoming bin appearance. May help with bin delivery and placement when necessary, including route driving of Goodwill box truck and use of fork trucks and pallet jacks at the donation site and/or GIS locations. Works closely with the Director of marketing and Communications to promote GIS' mission in the community, to educate donors on the life cycle of material donations, and to advertise donation drives. Assists the Donated Goods Retail division in upholding donation requirements, determining the best approach, and analyzing progress regularly. Maintains good communication with the Logistics Manager to ensure efficient transportation of material donations and support of community donation drives. Tracks donation drives, maintains records, and compiles reports about both donation drives and the material donation program. Collaborates with the Logistics Manager to ensure a positive donor experience at all attended donation centers, store sites, and community donation drive events. Responsible for supervising all community donation staff, including donation van drivers and other workers. Performs job duties in accordance with Goodwill Industries of the Summit's ethics and values. Acts as a leader in the field who promotes the organization's mission. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years related experience and/or training that includes outside sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have the ability to effectively cope with change in a fast-paced environment, as well as the ability to work with a high level of independence in non-routine, complex situations.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Valid class D driver's license required.
  • Must have ability to pass criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or business-related field preferred.
