About The Position

The Community Direct Support Professional supports individuals with disabilities or special needs with basic needs, including personal care, nutrition, and hygiene. The role aims to meet individuals’ needs and help them have a positive day by promoting socialization, community engagement, and their interests. Activities may include watching movies or going for walks. Experience is preferred but not required; extensive paid training is offered for people willing to learn advanced skills. This is a part-time weekend position with day, afternoon, and evening shifts.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, including a car, vehicle insurance.
• Pass a DHS Background Check.
• Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies.
• Ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs.
• Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Administer medications and assist with medical treatments as needed.
• Implement behavior management strategies and provide emotional support.
• Plan and participate in recreational activities and outings.
• Document individual progress and report concerns to a supervisor.
