About The Position

The Community Development and Marketing Specialist role is responsible for increasing awareness of the organization’s substance use disorder treatment services across the Minneapolis/St. Paul market, developing ethical referral relationships, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting growth in client admissions while maintaining compliance with confidentiality, privacy, and marketing standards. Park Avenue Center provides evidence-based, gender-specific drug and alcohol treatment in south Minneapolis, Minnesota. First established in 1979, Park Avenue Center is a community-based program that proudly serves Minnesota’s less fortunate individuals in beautiful settings. Using evidence-based best practices, we have maintained a reputation for the highest quality of services at extremely low rates. Clients we serve typically struggle with multiple barriers including mental illness, homelessness, financial problems, legal issues, and an overall lack of emotional support. Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, our staff includes Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors, Licensed Psychologists, Social Workers and a Registered Nurse. Our robust Mental Health Team allows us to help clients address their various needs. We take pride in the quality of our services and the magnificent environment we have created. Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build trust with clinical providers, community partners, families, and professional referral sources.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, e-mail communication, basic reporting tools, and CRM or referral tracking systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro area for outreach activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, business, marketing, social work, psychology, counseling, public health, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, healthcare, outreach, admissions, business development, or community relations preferred.
  • Understanding of Minneapolis/St. Paul treatment resources, recovery supports, county systems, jails, prisons, probation and parole systems, reentry resources, sober housing options, transportation barriers, social services, healthcare systems, and culturally specific community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Builds visibility and maintains strong relationships with external partners throughout the Twin Cities metro area including, but not limited to, the courts, outpatient and residential treatment providers, probation and parole departments, criminal justice partners, social service agencies, shelters and sober housing providers, hospitals, mental health clinics, reentry programs, and recovery community groups.
  • Identify new referral opportunities and underserved communities with the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro that may benefit from the organization’s services.
  • Represent the organization in Twin Cities provider networks, recovery coalitions, public health initiatives, community education events, and professional networking opportunities.
  • Educate referral partners and community stakeholders about the organization's services, levels of care, admission criteria, clinical approach, insurance/payment information, and the referral process.
  • Conduct regular outreach through in-person meetings, phone calls, e-mail communication, presentations, networking events, and community visits.
  • Collaborate with intake, admissions, clinical and leadership teams to ensure referrals are followed up promptly and professionally.
  • Support the development of marketing materials, program descriptions, newsletters, social media content, website updates, and community education resources that accurately reflect Park’s programs, values, and client environments.
  • Achieve department and company vision and objectives through practice of Traction, including weekly meetings, quarterly goals, and accountability to the Operations Process
