About The Position

The Division of Roadway Repair and Maintenance is recruiting a Community Coordinator to work in the Arterial Maintenance Unit. The primary responsibility will be to manage and execute a contract to maintain landscaped roadway medians throughout the City. This role involves managing the budget, contractor schedules, work assignments, and evaluating contractor reports. The Community Coordinator will also supervise horticulture inspectors, maintain program records and databases, and prepare written reports. Additionally, the role requires interpreting policies, procedures, regulations, contract provisions, and legal principles to provide information to oversight agencies and stakeholders. Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of median landscape maintenance program including budget, contractor schedule and work assignment, inspection and evaluation of contractor reports and recommendations
  • Supervise horticulture inspectors
  • Maintain program records and database
  • Prepare written reports in narrative and statistical form, based on research and analysis, in order to provide a synopsis of results and recommendations
  • Interpret policies, procedures, regulations, contract provisions, and legal principles to provide requested/required information for oversight agencies and stakeholders
  • Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned
