About The Position

The Justice Project is hiring community canvassers and team leaders in Metro Detroit, Michigan, to conduct door-to-door voter outreach through November 3, with possible advancement afterward. The team supports progressive candidates and encourages voters to vote for progressive leaders, including State Supreme Court Justices in the non-partisan section of the ballot. Canvassing roles start at $24 per hour, and team leader roles start at $26 per hour. Shifts are 7:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. or 10:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., on weekdays and weekends, with full-time and part-time options. This position offers experience in leadership, communication and advocacy, community outreach and engagement, campaign work, public policy, and social enterprise. Employees must be eligible to work in the United States and provide original, unexpired documents to complete I-9 verification.

Responsibilities

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner.
Deliver a compelling campaign message and collect complete survey answers from voters.
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills.
Follow campaign safety protocols.
For team leaders: manage a small group of canvassers in the field, check in with them periodically, and debrief with them at the end of the day.
For team leaders: ensure canvassers have the materials they need.
For team leaders: assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work.
