About The Position

The Justice Project is hiring Community Canvassers and Team Leaders to conduct door-to-door voter outreach in Wayne County, Michigan, through November 3, with possible advancement afterward. The campaign supports progressive candidates and encourages voters to cast ballots for progressive leaders, including State Supreme Court Justices in the non-partisan section of the ballot. Canvassing roles start at $24 per hour, and Team Leader roles start at $26 per hour. The work offers experience in leadership, communication and advocacy, community outreach and engagement, campaign work, public policy, and social enterprise. Shifts are available weekdays and weekends from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with part-time or full-time schedules possible. The employer offers overtime pay, driver and shift bonuses, paid training, sick pay, and bonuses for friend referrals. Employees must be eligible to work in the United States and provide original, unexpired documents to complete I-9 verification.

Responsibilities

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner.
Deliver a compelling campaign message and collect complete survey answers from voters.
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills.
Follow the campaign’s safety protocols.
For Team Leaders: Manage a small group of canvassers in the field, check in with them periodically throughout the day, and debrief with them at the end of the day.
For Team Leaders: Ensure each canvasser has the materials needed to be successful.
For Team Leaders: Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work.
