Community Based Support Professional - Santa Barbara
About The Position
People Creating Success (PCS) is hiring a Community Based Support Professional for its community-based day services in Santa Barbara and Goleta. The role supports adults with developmental disabilities in participating in their communities, pursuing meaningful activities, and increasing their access to the workforce. PCS provides services through F.A.D.E. (Facilitating Alternative Day Environments) and C.I.T.P. (Community Integration Training Program). This part-time position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The role involves building genuine relationships, supporting community involvement and volunteering, encouraging independent living skills and physical activity, and helping participants make progress toward person-centered goals. The professional is also expected to develop skills in behavior support, emotional regulation, and accurate documentation.
Requirements
- Compassionate, people-oriented mindset.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required).
- Responsible and able to assist with goal progress tracking.
- CPR/First Aid certification; training will be provided if not certified or recertification is needed.
Responsibilities
- Support participants in volunteering, attending events, and exploring their community.
- Encourage and model independent living skills.
- Assist participants in meeting their goals through person-centered planning.
- Encourage participants to be physically active and take part in meaningful, enjoyable activities.
- Provide a dependable, positive presence in participants’ day-to-day lives.
- Support individuals experiencing heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, or sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.
- Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
- Assist with tracking progress toward goals.
