About The Position

Weatherford is seeking a versatile and highly motivated Communications Specialist Compliance & Employee Engagement to join the team in Houston TX. The Communications Specialist will support internal and external communications initiatives and maintain the profile and brand of the Company. This role is ideal for a hands-on communicator who is equally comfortable preparing executive messaging, coordinating company announcements, drafting day-to-day communications, and managing operational details behind the scenes. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced corporate environment, bring a positive and collaborative attitude, and demonstrate the flexibility to handle both strategic communications and tactical execution. This individual will regularly interact with senior leadership while also rolling up their sleeves to support projects at every level. This is not a purely strategic or highly specialized communications role — we are looking for someone practical, adaptable, polished, and team-oriented who enjoys being part of the work, not just directing it.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of proven experience in communications, preferably with a corporate or agency environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business, or equivalent.
  • Ability to execute strategic communications plans.
  • Strong project management capabilities with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal business communication skills, including the ability to proof content before it is published to internal and external channels.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. This includes the ability to work and deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Highly self-motivated and goal-driven with a positive attitude. Maintaining flexibility and collaboration are essential. We are a very collaborative team!
  • Familiarity with basic communications strategies and tactics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience or proficiency in Adobe is a plus.
  • Ability to balance research, strategy, planning, and execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a large, multi-national, business-to-business organization.
  • Media relations and/or significant video production experience (writing, directing, etc.) ideal.
  • Passion for employee engagement and culture-shaping. Experience in employee surveying preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support in developing strategic communications for internal campaigns and programs designed to promote the Company’s culture, increase employee engagement, and drive sustainability initiatives. This includes crafting messaging and strategic programs to advance business objectives and generate awareness and engagement across the organization. This position will write, edit, and script content while working with our graphic designer and media producer to create a final product.
  • Support Communications team with ongoing initiatives such as brand adoption, town halls, leadership engagement, etc.
  • Schedule all Corporate Communications content across multiple internal platforms, including the One Weatherford App, Company Intranet, and external social media platforms.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the One Weatherford App, maintaining deep familiarity with platform capabilities and updates, supporting team enablement, and leading meetings or discussions related to adoption and use.
  • Analyze data from employee communications campaigns and the One Weatherford App and develop executive-level analytics and presentations that summarize insights, progress, and key takeaways for leadership audiences.
  • Support Weatherford’s sustainability goals by developing program messaging and enabling initiatives aligned with company priorities.
  • Coordinate volunteering and engagement opportunities, including planning the annual Weatherford Walks event and supporting student-focused STEM initiatives through the Weatherford WISE (Worldwide Initiative Supporting Education) program.
  • Support planning and execution of Corporate Communications and culture initiatives, including internal engagement events, with end-to-end planning and execution as well as global merchandising coordination across enterprise initiatives.
  • Assist with review and update web and intranet content pertaining to Communications.
  • Assist in the coordination of external communication publications, such as the annual report, proxy, and sustainability report.
  • Support media relations activities as needed by developing and reviewing press releases, messaging frameworks, and supporting materials in alignment with corporate positioning and priorities. Maintain media archives and coordinate communications status reports and editorial calendar updates to cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct ongoing peer research as needed to ensure strong, competitive communications channels.
  • Research and collect information for articles, presentations, brochure copy, etc.
  • Assist with the writing needs of the communications group.
  • Assist with Weatherford’s industry and professional association award entry processes.
  • Support drafting and editing of social media content. Partner with the team to enhance social media strategies and engagement.
  • In cooperation with the Digital Media Specialist, monitor conversations on Weatherford’s social media networks.
  • In cooperation with the Digital Media Specialist, maintain Weatherford’s press room website content and support evolving design and expansion of elements of the website to support program delivery and the overall Weatherford strategy.
  • In cooperation with the Digital Media Specialist, explore options to enhance event effectiveness, including innovative use of digital/social technologies to enhance awareness, networking and participation.
  • Develop and implement social media campaigns for events, programs, and successes, including recommendations for targeting specific audiences, tracking results, and adjusting tactics.
