About The Position

The Communications Specialist plays a vital role in advancing Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's brand and reputation through strategic, engaging communications. This position collaborates with stakeholders across the University to develop compelling content, support media relations, manage internal communications, and promote institutional priorities across a variety of platforms. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller with exceptional writing skills, sound news judgment, and the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and engaging manner. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience writing, editing, and creating content across multiple communication platforms.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and editing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with content management systems and social media platforms.
  • Ability to translate technical or complex information into clear, audience-focused messaging.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to brand consistency.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of current communications trends, tools, and best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting media relations and developing strategic communications.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working in higher education or another complex, mission-driven organization is a plus.
