We’re looking for an experienced communications specialist with web development skills, who is ready to share your knowledge and willing to win for the client and live our mission every day. Here, you’ll use your skills and experience to design, develop, produce, and advise on a variety of internal and external communication materials and media that supports a key government client. As a communications specialist and web developer on our team, you’ll develop creative solutions to complex problems. Your self-guided yet collaborative spirit will shape and nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients to promote client initiatives, help their customers find critical information online, and help the client tell their story. This is both a communications and web role requiring a unique individual who has strong writing skills and can think strategically about communications and engagement, and can make regular updates to a WordPress-based website. We're looking for someone who can geek out equally over grammar and HTML code, someone who can write a persuasive, informative workforce messages, and roll up their sleeves to troubleshoot website issues. On the communications front, you'll collaborate on all aspects of oral and written communications, performing a variety of duties, including creating and implementing communications plans to gain employee buy-in of client initiatives, drafting and editing internal and enterprise-wide news and information to inform the client's workforce, including regular newsletters, announcements, leadership messages, and articles, developing and managing content for the client's web site, and creating collateral content, as needed. You will also be responsible for coordinating, publicizing, and running periodic events, such as All Hands or town hall meetings. On the web development front, you'll be responsible for managing all aspects of the client's WordPress website, including updating content and images, fixing broken links, building or changing menus, installing new plug-ins when needed to improve functionality, managing access to restricted areas of the site, and advocating for UI/UX best practices throughout. You do not need to know how to build a website from scratch, but you should be proficient enough to manage the site proficiently with occasional reach-back assistance from the corporate web developer team.
