About The Position

Ares Management Corporation is seeking a Communications Officer to join the Ares Charitable Foundation (the “Ares Foundation”). Established in 2021, the Ares Foundation aims to advance economic mobility by assisting individuals with job preparation and reskilling, supporting business launches and scaling, and enhancing personal finance knowledge. The Foundation applies the same rigor and entrepreneurial spirit as Ares' investment activities to strengthen communities. The Communications Officer will be responsible for designing, articulating, and executing a communications strategy to increase the Ares Foundation's visibility and thought leadership among global audiences. This involves crafting key narratives, engaging with media, and leading storytelling across various platforms, initiatives, and regions. The role requires collaboration with internal Ares teams (Corporate Communications & Marketing, Compliance, Legal) and external vendors to ensure consistent and compelling messaging. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in nonprofit/CSR communications, excellent project management skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and a process-improvement mindset.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 10 years’ experience designing, developing and executing thoughtful communications strategies for philanthropy/CSR, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling and focused messaging for global audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues at all levels as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to execute projects and produce deliverables in accord with the Ares Foundation’s proven commitment to – and reputation for – high-quality work.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple and competing priorities with high attention to details.
  • High emotional intelligence and excellent judgement as well as the ability to adapt and be flexible as necessary.
  • Proven ability to solve problems resourcefully and creatively, with the flexibility to adapt to evolving situations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products and various technology and digital platforms.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead content and product planning, using data and insights to inform strategy and refinement.
  • Develop communications content and products, including messaging, social media and webpage copy, reports, press releases, case studies, presentations, opinion pieces, and other collateral, to build awareness for the Ares Foundation’s innovation, thought leadership, and impact globally.
  • Identify and research emerging issues relevant to the Ares Foundation’s mission and funding priorities to support content creation and clarify the business imperative for philanthropy/CSR.
  • Conceptualize, originate, and produce content for compelling storytelling through videos and media-rich assets.
  • Develop and/or edit speeches and talking points for Ares Foundation and Ares leadership.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to Ares Foundation grantees and nonprofit partners on communications related to Ares Foundation-funded initiatives, including reviewing press releases and knowledge products.
  • Identify and build relationships with top-tier media and experts on key Ares Foundation issues to pitch and place stories and secure speaking opportunities for leadership.
