About The Position

The Frontenac, Lennox & Addington Ontario Health Team (FLA OHT) is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support its overall communications function. This role is part of the backbone operations team and reports to the Executive Lead, FLA OHT. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for creating and editing content for FLA OHT communication channels, ensuring consistent branding, and supporting the Communications and Engagement Lead. The FLA OHT aims to improve access to connected health and wellness care, enhance patient and provider experiences, and create system efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Relevant post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media).
  • Minimum three years of work experience demonstrating skills that can be directly applied to the position.
  • Willingness to become familiar with FLA OHT, its programs and current communications activities.
  • Experience writing, editing, designing and disseminating high-quality content for publication in various formats.
  • Excellent and versatile writing skills; writes and edits to Canadian Press style and Canada’s plain language guidelines (CP Style certification preferred).
  • Experience updating websites and using social media as a communications tool.
  • Experience with media relations.
  • Self-starter with evidence of high levels of organization, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate well in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent written and digital communication skills.
  • Competence with MS Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Awareness of, and ability to support, provincial and federal privacy regulations and FLA OHT policies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly.
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal and Vulnerable Persons Check.
  • Ability to attend meetings and events in Kingston and Napanee, as required.
  • Located in and eligible to work in Ontario.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of health system communications or public sector work.
  • Experience with graphic design, layout, clear language, and infographics.
  • French language is an asset.
  • Ability to use other communication tools/platforms, including WordPress an asset.
  • CP Style certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of FLA OHT bi-monthly newsletters by drafting story ideas, conducting interviews, writing, editing, coordinating reviews and translations, and publishing using newsletter tools.
  • Build audience-focused, story-driven content highlighting progress, impact, and collaboration.
  • Support content on the FLA OHT website, including creation, updates, and event listings, potentially maintaining a health and wellness promotional calendar.
  • Develop and administer the FLA OHT social media strategy, including managing a content calendar, creating, scheduling, and monitoring posts across platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Meta), and tracking performance metrics.
  • Develop media releases, online stories, key messages, and other communications materials for dissemination.
  • Support translation coordination for bilingual materials.
  • Create, review, and update promotional materials (flyers, digital materials, forms) to support quality, accessibility, and brand consistency.
  • Support the implementation of community and partner engagement strategies.
  • Support the planning and execution of project-based communications campaigns.
  • Create visually engaging materials in Canva, such as posters, infographics, one-pagers, slide decks, and event/campaign materials.
  • Prepare and support internal (partner) communication pathways.
  • Prepare and assist with presentations.
  • Collaborate with team members and partners to promote events and activities.
  • Participate in working group meetings.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to gather stories, approvals, and visuals.
  • Work collaboratively across partners to reflect shared achievements and priorities.
  • Support processes related to communications improvements (e.g., website, social media, print materials).
  • Ensure communications are congruent with AODA principles.
  • Support report writing and other organization-wide activities.
  • Develop communications reports as directed.
  • Comply with all relevant legislation and KCHC policies, including privacy laws.
  • Acquire an understanding of trauma responsiveness and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
  • Demonstrate commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigenization, and Accessibility (EDIIA).
  • Support consistent application and development of KCHC policies and procedures.
  • Support KCHC’s student and volunteer placement programs.
  • Promote awareness of and participation in KCHC activities.

  • Perform other temporary duties as required.
