About The Position

Provides telephone service for hospital departments, physicians, and outside callers for the Physicians' Answering Service and the hospital. This is a part-time position scheduled every other Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Answer incoming external and internal calls through the telephone switchboard system, as well as calls to assistance phones and code phones, and security and after-hours engineering calls.
Answer calls for physicians after hours, obtain information from urgent callers, and page the appropriate people.
Monitor security cameras.
Compile daily on-call schedules from multiple calendars and make updates or changes as needed.
Dispatch inpatient transport, security, and engineering.
Page employees and physicians upon request.
Monitor the medical gas system and troubleshoot hospital alarms and issues, including smoke detector, boiler, and chiller alarms.
Send out code and emergency alerts, including rapid response, blue, white, and fire activations.
Book Endoscopy and OR cases with surgeons during evening and overnight hours during the week and through the weekend, and contact involved staff, including Anesthesia, on-call teams, and PACU, as needed.
Assist staff with forwarding and un-forwarding their work extensions.
