About The Position

Second Order Controls – a division of ARCO/Murray National Construction – is seeking a highly motivated Cx Project Manager to join our Commissioning team based in Chicago, IL. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (with a focus in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in Mission Critical, Power Infrastructure, or Water Treatment preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with different types of individuals
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles (HVAC, thermodynamics, heat transfer, process engineering)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with the ability to successfully work on own
  • Comfortable with spending time on construction jobsite – approximately 50%.
  • Familiar with construction practices and principles

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in building commissioning (QCxP, CCP, CxA or similar) is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform commissioning on mechanical, electrical, controls, and process systems.
  • Act as the commissioning lead for ARCO’s largest, most complex projects, responsible for all pre-commissioning, functional testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Work directly with ARCO customers and end-users regarding commissioning status, engagement of client operations staff, and facility turnover.
  • Identify issues, guide troubleshooting/root cause analysis, and ensure final issue resolution through a hands-on approach.
  • Operate as the bridge between design and construction teams, coordinating system design with installation between clients, subcontractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Create and execute pre-commissioning equipment checklists to maintain state-of-the-art quality system installations.
  • Create and execute commissioning test scripts that verify correct operation of the installed systems.
  • Lead project commissioning meetings to set expectations and coordinate schedules for all trades.
  • Effectively convey information to onsite superintendents and subcontractors using knowledge of the project’s systems.
