About The Position

The Commercial Solar Lead/Apprentice performs commercial solar installation work, including organizing job materials, coordinating a small installation team, assembling and mounting solar arrays and equipment, making DC and AC wiring connections, and documenting completion of assigned work. The role also supports inventory planning, coordinates with the Lead Electrician on AC scope, and helps maintain a clean jobsite.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of solar installation experience.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to read solar and single-line drawings.
• Knowledge of NEC electrical codes.
• Proficiency wiring and interconnecting grid-tied inverters.
• Ability to work in extreme environments, including sun, cold, and crawl spaces.
• Willingness and ability to climb ladders and stairs, work on rooftops, and remain on one's feet for extended periods; comfort working at heights.
• Reliability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Pull and confirm inventory for each job and organize materials.
• Manage a team of 1–3 installers.
• Lay out and assemble solar modules, arrays, and mounting hardware.
• Mechanically and structurally mount racking, modules, and electrical equipment.
• Perform DC and AC wire connections.
• Bend conduit up to 1-1/4-inch EMT.
• Communicate and document completion of assigned work scope.
• Clean the jobsite nightly and at the end of the project.
• Take inventory of materials needed to complete assigned work and send the information to the Lead Electrician or Superintendent.
• Work with the Lead Electrician on AC scope as needed and learn the AC side of projects.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
