We are seeking a driven Commercial Sales Engineer to support and grow our customer base in the Twin Cities market. This role combines technical expertise with relationship-focused sales, delivering reliable solutions across mechanical systems. The Commercial Sales Engineer will play a key role in building long-term partnerships, supporting our expansion, and upholding Ellingson’s reputation for quality, integrity, and service excellence.

Requirements

  • Strong customer acquisition of new customers by means of cold calling, email and other strategic methods
  • Good customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Establish relationships with local general contractors
  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical experience
  • Strong estimating and system design capabilities
  • Results-driven with excellent organization and follow-through
  • Effective communicator with strong relationship-building skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Knowledge of commercial codes, systems, and applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with commercial customers.
  • Actively identifies and pursues new sales opportunities through outreach and networking.
  • Estimates and sells replacement equipment and retrofit projects.
  • Prepares accurate proposals.
  • Manages all opportunities within the CRM system.
  • Collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Supports both light commercial new construction and retrofit opportunities across all trades.
  • Stays current on equipment, codes, and available rebates or grant opportunities.
  • Consistently tracks, reports, and achieves established sales goals and performance metrics.
