About The Position

The Commercial Sales System Engineer is responsible for designing Everon Fire Alarm, Intrusion Security, CCTV, and Card Access Systems in accordance with Sales and Operations protocols. This role involves receiving project specifications from Sales Representatives, designing system blueprints, and selecting the appropriate mix of products and installation methods for cost-effective solutions. The engineer will prepare all required submittals for efficient hand-off to operations and act as a technical resource to Sales and Operations team members. Participation in sales and operations meetings to evaluate estimate accuracy and job layout is also expected. The role may involve initial job site walk-throughs with contractors and/or building management.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Electronics or other technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in commercial security systems design.
  • 3-5 years engineering/systems or other related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of industry engineering fundamentals and business operations.
  • Proficiency in programming, job start-up, checkout, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheet, project management).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fully proficient and independent design skills.
  • Able to design medium to large jobs with deviation from standard tools, products or practices as needed.
  • Understands process of construction projects and the requirements to document all changes or deviations to specifications.

  • NICET Fire Alarm Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports field sales organization in the designing of Everon Fire Alarm, Intrusion Security, CCTV, and Card Access Systems, potentially creating unique design solutions.
  • Ensures the job folder is organized and maintained with all pertinent job-related information.
  • May perform some field activities as required.
  • Designs building fire/security systems for large and/or complex buildings, including electrical system layouts, drawings, bill of materials, sequence of operations matrix, risers, and panel layouts.
  • Designs small, medium, and large complex building fire alarm and security architecture.
  • Analyzes plans, construction contract specifications, and codes to determine project requirements and risks.
  • Generates specific records for all projects.
  • Provides start-up and checkout documentation for NFPA UL certification.
  • Ensures the proper estimation of all job costs.
  • Prepares engineering re-estimates and follows up with management to assure understanding and satisfaction with job scope.
  • Organizes system layout by design and prepares necessary documents, including drawings for permits.
  • Prepares specifications and drawings for specific job-related components.
  • Selects proper types, sizes, and quantities of products to meet project requirements.
  • Prepares information on pre-installation extras or change orders for submission.
  • Oversees the creation of system graphics.
