About The Position

Nations Roof, a leading commercial roofing contractor, is seeking a Commercial Roofing Traveling Superintendent. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of commercial roof installation projects, from planning and implementation to tracking and completion. The Superintendent will coordinate closely with all involved parties, provide frequent updates, and ensure projects are executed safely and productively according to specifications and company standards. The company undertakes a variety of projects, including large-scale new construction, tear-offs, re-roofing, renovations, and ongoing maintenance, inspection, and repairs of commercial roof systems.

Requirements

  • Commercial roofing crew management experience.
  • Proficient with computers.
  • Five years of commercial roofing experience or equivalent market, manufacturing, or distribution experience servicing the commercial roofing marketplace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with roof installation of large retail facilities "Big Box".
  • Experience managing roofing crews and roofing subcontractors.
  • Experience with a wide range of commercial roofing systems and roofing manufacturers.
  • Read and understand specifications and blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills - Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Willing to be trained and use company software.
  • Must be able to travel frequently.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Must be able to travel 90% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Bluebeam and/or construction project management experience, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to foremen, fostering safety, teamwork, and discipline for efficient and professional roof system installation.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality service and results.
  • Represent the company professionally in all dealings with customers, personnel, and the public.
  • Effectively manage all aspects of production to meet company and project goals.
  • Supervise foremen to lead safe and efficient roof system installations.
  • Oversee field staff and/or sub-contractor(s), assisting with crew leadership as required.
  • Conduct or participate in safety audits and ensure subcontractor compliance with NR expectations, including safety requirements and weekly toolbox talks, inspection reports for equipment.
  • Resolve complaints and grievances; assist with discipline when necessary.
  • Ensure production and quality goals are met, maintaining records of efforts through photographs and reporting tools.
  • Maintain understanding of contract information for jobs.
  • Track labor hours and production against stated goals, potentially requiring photographic evidence of proper time recording by subcontractors.
  • Schedule materials, equipment, and deliveries, prioritizing inventoried materials.
  • Monitor material usage, minimize waste, anticipate shortages, and order materials as needed.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and manage subcontractors.
  • Monitor installation quality, including destructive testing, to ensure proper techniques and results, and identify personnel needing additional training.
  • Engage with customers to answer questions and provide explanations.
  • Schedule daily or weekly customer contact to review progress and discuss outstanding issues.
  • Meet with customers to verify satisfaction with work and billing, and deliver warranties.
  • Review plans and sites, delegate crews, and perform pre-job planning, including creating site-specific safety plans and work plan efficiencies.
  • Ensure crews have necessary information and instructions to complete jobs, notifying management of any missing information.
  • Submit reports and paperwork on time, coordinating communication between office and job sites, including Daily Project Reports (DPRs).
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, accidents, and thefts, providing relevant documents, photos, and assessments to the office.
  • Deliver all documentation to the office in a timely manner, including daily reports, expense reports, and information for the Safety Manager.
  • Review final paperwork to ensure change orders are reflected and billed.
  • Participate in manufacturer final inspections.
  • Participate in regular review meetings with project managers.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development, teamwork, and offering assistance and expertise to others.
  • Assist Project Managers in the preparation, review, and administration of contractual proposals, contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Work closely with permit expediters, project managers, design team, and consultants to monitor and expedite the development process.
  • Maintain relationships between the organization and outside consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain and update the project management/development tracking tool, Salesforce, and other business tools.
  • Track and maintain Salesforce software for project information and updates.
  • Receive, organize, and maintain all construction documents.
  • Perform site take-offs and communicate information to Estimating clearly and accurately, notifying Estimating if take-off information cannot be relayed by the following day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
