About The Position

Concepts in Millwork is seeking a skilled and analytical Millwork Estimator to join their family-oriented team. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping high-quality custom millwork projects, ensuring they meet client expectations, budgets, and the company's commitment to excellence. The Estimator is responsible for preparing a clear and detailed estimate based upon a thorough review of the architectural drawings and specifications for high-end commercial projects from bid to hand-off to the Project Managers. Requirements

  • Minimum (3) years of experience in millwork estimating. Experience in any other construction and building industry is not an acceptable substitution.
  • Ability to create a takeoff from scratch. Must be able to breakdown millwork into each piece and component and price without the aid of pre-existing formulas.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Must be able to write and audit formulas, navigate, and use shortcuts. Must know algebra formulas for calculating square footage and linear footage.
  • Ability to read architectural blueprints and shop drawings identifying all millwork items.
  • Strong understanding of millwork construction methods; demonstrate continuous education to keep up with changing needs.
  • Experience using Bluebeam required. Must be proficient in navigation, shortcuts, highlighting, slip sheets, stamps, and page extractions.

Responsibilities

  • Assign fabrication, finish, and installation time to each piece of millwork without the assistance of pre-determined formulas or times.
  • Bid on projects ranging in size from $2,000 - $3M+.
  • Review assigned project invitations and gather all information needed to complete a proposal.
  • Communicate clearly with customers in a timely manner (via phone and/or email) to understand project requirements, goals, and post-bid questions.
  • Understand the current market and work to put together winning, profitable proposals.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing Team to pursue and earn projects bid.
  • Set up awarded projects for a detailed and successful hand-off to Project Management and Engineering.
  • Have an understanding of standard building construction methods to include AWI guidelines, LEEDS, and FSC requirements.
  • Handle multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Possess excellent communication, mathematical, and grammar skills.
