About The Position

Wolverine Construction, a nationally recognized leader in the construction industry specializing in industrial, multi-unit residential, healthcare, office, retail, and restaurant construction, is seeking a Construction Estimator to join their Preconstruction team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator to work on a variety of commercial projects and play a key role in winning and shaping upcoming work. The estimator will partner closely with the Director of Preconstruction and Project Managers to develop accurate, competitive estimates across multiple delivery methods, gaining visibility into high-impact projects and influencing outcomes from the earliest stages. Requirements

  • 5+ years of estimating experience in ground-up commercial construction
  • Strong experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel (formulas, templates, data organization)
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings across multiple trades
  • Experience preparing detailed, accurate estimates independently
  • Ability to work in-office (hybrid flexibility available; fully remote not an option)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with healthcare, public works, or multifamily projects
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management software
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Prepare conceptual, negotiated, and competitive bid estimates across multiple project types
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to define full project scope
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for labor, materials, and general conditions
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids
  • Maintain bid schedules and ensure proper coverage across all trades
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and occasionally visit job sites to evaluate conditions
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to support preconstruction and project planning efforts
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Ensure adherence to company bidding procedures and quality standards
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously (typically 2–3+ projects at a time)
