About The Position

The Stanley Black & Decker Leadership Development Program (SLP) is a high-profile rotational program designed to accelerate the development of future leaders. This program is for recent graduates with marketing experience and a relevant business degree who are passionate about a long-term career in marketing-focused roles. The program offers invaluable experiences for early-career associates seeking challenging developmental opportunities to jump-start their careers. Commercial Marketing SLPs work in 3 rotations over 2 years, with project assignments that allow participants to become familiar with the company's business and contribute to its success. The Commercial Marketing SLP will participate in a rotation in each of the following functions: Channel Marketing, Product Management, and Brand Marketing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Business Analytics, or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience paired with strong academic background.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team without constant direction or supervision.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and interpersonal; presentation and facilitation skills, social media savvy communicator; ability to effectively communicate across potential language barriers.
  • Demonstrated quantitative, analytical, creative problem solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Resourceful with ability to navigate the unknown, finding solutions by navigating through internal and external channels.
  • Excellent networking and collaboration skills; Proven ability to build alliances, influence others, and work in a team environment.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail; Ability to be proactive, prioritize work, and handle multiple assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability and willingness to relocate if necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internships in Product, Category, Brand Marketing, Marketing Insights, or other related fields an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the strategic direction and financial performance of product lines, including managing Profit & Loss (P&L) for the Strategic Business Unit.
  • Developing comprehensive three-year strategic plans and tailoring national brand and product strategies to meet market demands.
  • Managing relationships with creative teams and ensuring effective financial tracking.
  • Executing marketing tasks such as SAP SKU structuring and forecasting.
  • Leading product launches and coordinating promotional efforts.
  • Serving as the primary liaison with US and Global Marketing Teams.
  • Educating sales teams about market trends and providing in-depth product knowledge.
  • Facilitating communication across departments to ensure cohesive strategy implementation.
  • Driving portfolio growth specifically within the Canadian market.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with sales and finance departments to ensure financial targets are accurately measured and met.
  • Leading innovative product launches and coordinating promotional activities within their respected channel.
  • Acting as the main contact for Canadian, US and Global Marketing Teams.
  • Educating sales teams and customers on emerging trends, providing product knowledge, and ensuring effective communication of marketing activities across various departments.
  • Collaborating closely with Canadian Sales, Marketing, Logistics Groups, Global Counterparts, and End-Users.
  • Shaping and maintaining the identity, reputation, and market positioning of brands.
  • Developing and executing comprehensive brand strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and loyalty among target audiences.
  • Overseeing the creation and implementation of marketing campaigns, ensuring consistency in messaging and visual identity across all platforms.
  • Collaborating closely with creative, product, and sales teams to align brand initiatives with business objectives and market trends.
  • Monitoring brand performance metrics, analyzing consumer insights, and adjusting strategies to optimize brand equity and growth.
  • Serving as the central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships to support brand objectives.
  • Guiding cross-functional teams in delivering cohesive brand experiences.
  • Generating analytics, insights and reporting to help drive margin growth, portfolio optimization, and strategy.
  • Conducting market research to determine and track pricing, margin and profitability targets across multiple categories and retailers.
  • Supporting teams in their efforts to provide strategic counsel to cross-functional partners in category strategy, pricing, product assortment, margin and growth expectations, and product launch plans.
  • Assisting in developing marketing collateral, point-of-purchase displays, advertising materials and web content to promote product portfolio.
  • Researching trends in the industry and related industries and developing a deep understanding of end users, and assisting teams in incorporating these insights into successful new product launches.
  • Learning about the product lifecycle process from senior product experts.
  • Maintaining Product Information Management systems, ensuring information is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Coordinating and tracking New Product Development (NPD) projects annually, and delivering enhanced and market-ready assets for the Canadian Market.
  • Reporting out/presenting to Program peers and company leaders about project deliverables on a regular rhythm.
