Southwest Region: Commercial Lines Underwriter Trainee
About The Position
The Commercial Lines Underwriter Trainee trains to underwrite risks and determine the selection or rejection of new and renewal commercial business. The trainee learns the underwriting thought process and how to use underwriting guidelines, procedures, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations. The role also develops skills for building and maintaining strong relationships with agents and insureds in an assigned territory. The trainee participates in an extensive training program combining instruction, self-study, and on-the-job shadowing. After successfully mastering the program, the trainee evaluates existing and new accounts and makes underwriting recommendations within limited authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity. The position is based at the Southwest Regional Office in Richardson, Texas. Regionally based employees must travel to corporate headquarters periodically for training and may travel occasionally within the territory. The trainee program starts in early June 2027.
