About The Position

WHAT YOU'LL DO: The Commercial Lending Manager (Manager) oversees and is directly involved in all Commercial Lending relationship management and business development activities in Florida with state and local governments, CDFIs, and community organizations. The Manager also works closely with Self-Help Credit Union Area Managers and senior leadership to share and understand goals, strategies, and products. Initially, the Manager will focus on business development to support deployment of Self-Help’s Affordable Housing Loan Fund serving Jacksonville. The Manager is also responsible for building and managing a coordinated commercial lending strategy and collaborating with other departments and teams to operationalize new lending initiatives. The Manager will work with senior leadership in Florida and on the Commercial Lending team to ensure the plan for Commercial Lending in Florida meets the strategic goals of Self-Help, including supporting the communities served by Self-Help Credit Union branches. Additional responsibilities include ensuring that direct reports receive the appropriate coaching, training, and development. The Manager is also responsible for ensuring business development goals are attained. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Develop, maintain, and coordinate all aspects of externally-facing relationships, in coordination with SH geographic leadership, which can include borrowers, lending partners, and loan referral networks in support of team products and programs. Create business development strategies in coordination with SH geographic leadership by analyzing trends and identifying new leads and potential opportunities for growth in our portfolio; building a pipeline of customers; and expanding our partner network. Lead new product development ideation, implementation, and execution in all team asset types. Be knowledgeable of and support other organizational strategies to increase lending and capital raising. Support teammates with analysis, underwriting, and deal structuring. Work in coordination with risk management teams to analyze market trends and how they impact portfolio risk and pricing. Work with internal teams to identify sources of funding and subsidy for products and programs. Participate and support other team/cross-team business development projects and initiatives. Engage Industry lenders in discussion about Self-Help's products through one-on-one meetings, presentations, and participation in industry conferences and meetings. STAFF MANAGEMENT Oversee the management and development of direct reports including providing guidance, on-going feedback and coaching, and stewarding the development process. Work with direct reports to set individual performance and development goals, track progress against goals, and provide mid-year and annual progress reviews. If applicable, oversee community building among team staff in the geography, and coordinate connection with other Self-Help teams in the geography Ensure consistency of implementation and adoption of tools to effectively manage workflow OTHER Actively contribute in setting team strategies, identifying operational impacts, and managing the overall team to achieve established goals. Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary. If appropriate: Act as a change agent to drive Self-Help’s economic inclusion initiatives by integrating supplier diversity and the use of businesses owned by women and people of color in third party contracting and vendor management for relevant products and services

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field OR equivalent related experience.
  • Seven years lending, investing, or similar financial experience and/or training.
  • Relationship development, sales, and negotiation skills
  • Strong commitment to our mission – creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities.
  • Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to lead, motivate, and supervise employees, as well as operate as a working manager with a hands-on approach.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and vendors across multiple locations throughout the US.
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to set priorities and organize competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to present information in an effective manner
  • Ability to gather, organize, analyze and interpret information
  • Ability and willingness to work beyond normal work hours, as needed.
